Historic Tax Credit Legislation Passes House/Another Day on the Hill

ABC of Alabama and other construction associations are applauding the House of Representatives this morning for their 91 to 4 vote in favor of the Historical Tax Credit legislation.  By now, you are all aware of the impact and need of House Bill 62. Our industry, as well as the state, needs this tax credit extended. “Our members in Mobile, Huntsville and Birmingham have been consistently making sure our office is aware of the need for this bill," said ABC of Alabama's Chairman of the Board Randall Curtis. "We encourage the Senate to act quickly and get this ‘job creation' legislation on the calendar.”

Members interested in attended our next Day on the Hill to specifically discuss this bill with the Senate may visit the link below to register to attend a reception ABC of Alabama is cohosting to bring awareness to bill. In fact, the legislation passing the House increases the importance of association members attending the reception celebrating "An Exhibit of 52 Historic Tax Credit Projects" on April 14.

The association alliances have assembled documentation that clearly shows that this historical tax credit is needed, a revenue positive generator for the state and without a doubt creates jobs for local companies.

“I think of all the programs I’ve been involved in related to government, this has been one of the most impactful,” said Mike Rogers of Rogers & Willard. “Not only does it pay for itself by providing an increase in taxes, it removes blight, restores neighborhood pride and serves as an example to others about what can be done.”

The attached document provides the details on attending the reception.
