ABC of Alabama and the local OSHA office began their alliance in 2006. Since then, OSHA has played a vital role on the Safety Committee and has helped educate our members on how to achieve safety on the jobsite.
Special thanks to Viriginia Ames who has played a key role in this alliance. She also helped in establishing the OSHA/MSHA Library that is located at the ABC office in Homewood. In May, a dedication ceremony was held in her honor and the library was renamed the
Virginia G. Ames Safety Resource Library.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Associated Builders, Contractors of Alabama (ABC) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. OSHA and ABC hereby form an Alliance to provide ABC members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to construction hazards, addressing fall, struck-by, electrical, excavation, and general safety and health issues through development of safety and health programs. In developing this Alliance, OSHA and ABC recognize that OSHA’s State Plan and Consultation Project partners are an integral part of the OSHA national effort.
