Awards Programs

A great way for our members to gain recognition is to participate in any or all of our award programs. All recipients of awards are printed in several publications, such as the Alabama Construction News magazine, monthly newsletters, chapter website and the membership directory and users guide.

Excellence in Construction

AQC

The Accredited Quality Contractor Program (AQC) was launched in 1993 to provide an accreditation program which publicly recognizes and honors those construction firms which have documented their commitment in four key areas of corporate responsibility: Safety, Employee Benefits, Training and Community Relations

Benefits of AQC
Contractors that successfully qualify as "AQC" are accredited for one year.

Each receive a plaque and other benefits, including:

  • Wide recognition within the industry, the business community and the public
  • National and local recognition in publications
  • Authorization to use AQC language in bid documents
  • Permission to use the AQC logo on letterhead, business cards and jobsite signs

In addition, AQC members are acknowledged in ABC's national membership directory, www.findcontractors.com, and the Alabama Chapter's Membership Directory & Users Guide with the signature Q.

S.T.E.P.

The Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) was developed and written by contractors for contractors. The STEP program provides members with an organized approach to analyzing developing their safety and loss prevention program. It gives companies a valid objective in which to measure safety program improvements, and provides them with safety performances that can be used as an important business development tool with clients. Awards are based on approximately 20 key elements of contractor safety programs such as commitment of company management, responsibilities of safety personnel and budgets.
