E-Verify Mandated for Federal Contractors/Subcontractors |
Alabama @ Work By: Tommy Eden, Capell & Howard, P.C. Beginning January 15, 2009, federal contractors and subcontractors will be required to use the federal E-Verify system to verify the employment eligibility of employees. The final rule was published November 14, 2008, amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and implementing President Bush's Executive Order 12989 which he signed June 6, 2008. What is "E-Verify?" E-Verify is a free internet-based system that allows employers to confirm the legal status of newly hired employees. E-Verify is essentially a search tool that checks the SSA and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) databases in order to verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees. |

Alabama Construction News |
We are proud to announce that starting with the Winter Issue, Alabama Construction News will be completely published by ABC of Alabama. This news comes with an overhaul of the existing mailing list. ABC of Alabama has worked over the last 6 months to ensure the mailing list for the magazine was the most comprehensive list of end users and included every general contractor and subcontractor in Alabama. Just a sampling of those receiving our magazine are: Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, Alabama Development Office, Construction Users Roundtable and the Economic Development Association of Alabama. Others to be added include Chambers of Commerce, Hospitals, School Systems and others. The magazine that your association owns is now your best tool to make sure end users know who you are and your capabilities on the job sites. Click here for advertising rates or for more information please contact George Pierce at 205.870.9768 Ext. 100. |
